A collection of 16 shorts on food and sustainability, compiled by Media That Matters, featuring "Inch by Inch: Providence Youth Gardens for Change".

Q&A with Providence filmmaker Ilana Friedman.

The story of Inch By Inch began four years ago. Ilana was building a raised-bed vegetable garden with fellow Brown University students in their back yard. The experience connected Ilana to her New York City roots, where she used to garden with her father on their roof, and introduced her to questions of food quality and environmental issues like lead contamination.

Inch By Inch documents how educators in Providence, Rhode Island implement gardening programs with their students. The educators and youth in Inch By Inch have created a legacy of healthy, safe, and community-centered learning spaces.

Free and open to the public.

Cultivating an Organic Connecticut Conference

Featuring Nancy Jack Todd and John Todd, scientists, authors, activists and co-founders of the New Alchemy Institute and Ocean Arks Institute.

They will speak on "The Promise of Ecological Design". To build truly sustainable communities and lighten the footprint humans are making on the earth requires a new way of thinking about design, recycling, conservation, and renewable energy. Taking our cues from long-existing ecosystems on our planet we can create successful local food systems and virtually eliminate pollution, providing a healthier environment and better quality of life for everyone.
