Market Mobile is a cooperative delivery system designed around the needs of our family farmers. The online ordering software pools together sales, delivery and invoicing so that our farmers and producers can focus on growing the tastiest food in town.

The result is that a group of diversified small and mid-sized farms can supply restaurants, schools, grocers and institutions in Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts.

Aquidneck Farms sells Grass-Fed Beef, Pasured Hens Eggs and Pastured Broilers all raised on three hundred acres of protected Grassland in Portsmouth. Farmers Jim Booth and Mike Victor graze their herd of Angus cattle throughout the season. Aquidneck Farms Cattle never receive hormones, and are never fed antibiotics, grain or animal by-products.

Aquidneck Honey offers pure, raw honey free of chemicals or pesticides from their 300 hives in Middletown and other certified organic farms. Founded in 2004 by Jeff Mello, they never heat, treat, or process their honey, and use all natural herbs to fight mites. Their honey is available in ½ lb and 1 lb jars, honey straws, as well as by the gallon. They were voted farm of the year in 2010 by the Middletown grange #30.

Jeffrey Kamminga grows delicious, organic baby greens, salad greens and herbs at his farm in Exeter. His baby greens feature a mix of spinach, lettuce, bulls beet greens, mixed mustards, chervil and arugula. His crisp microgreens are a mix of baby mustard, bulls blood beets, purple salad amaranth, and work wonderfully in salads and as garnish.

Baffoni’s Poultry Farm was started in 1935. Today six family members work on their 80 acre farm in Johnston, where they raise 25,000 chickens and 1,200 turkeys. They raise leghorn and RI Red hens for egg production, and broad breasted Cornish broilers for fryers. Their chickens are fed an all vegetarian diet, with no meat by-products and all their eggs are hand picked and hand-packed. For the Baffoni family, growing up on the farm became a way of life, and they intend to make that available for the next generation.

Hundreds of RI families know Barden Family Orchard for their great pick-your-own apple and peach trees. Located in North Scituate, the orchard has been in Gil Barden’s family since the 1930s. Gil took over the farm in 1985 and began farming full time with his wife Sandie and family in 2005. In addition to their peaches and many varieties of apples, they grow sweet corn, pumpkins, winter squash and other vegetables. In 2009, they started making their own cider. Their apples, squash and cider are available almost all year round.

Our Oberhasli, La Mancha and Saanen goats are milked twice daily and provide the milk for our cheese.

Blackbird Farm knows their Angus! Farmers Kevin and Ann Marie Bouthillette are passionate about quality, and can tell you the pedigree, when the animal was born, what it has been fed, how it was raised, when it was harvested and how the carcass was graded. Their farm started out as a project for their kids, and has now grown to over 100 acres and over 60 heads of cattle. Their cows have free range of the grasslands around their farm, and are fed an all-natural, highly regulated diet of grain including oats and hay. Steers are processed between the age if twelve and eigteen months, and are dry aged for 21 days.

Christina Dedora runs this 1 acre vegetable and flower farm at Urban Edge Farm in Cranston. After a few years of growing beautiful flowers and offering CSA flower shares, Christina has expanded her operation to include heirloom vegetables, medicinal herbs, and new and interesting varieties of both. Watch for her edible flowers, medicinal and culinary herbs such as nettles and calendula, and other unusual specialties. Though not certified organic, Christina grows all of her vegetables and herbs chemical-free.

Started in 1984 by the Bomster family, these scallops have become a favorite of chefs and customers in RI for their incredible quality and taste. Bomster scallops are harvested, shucked, and rinsed in seawater within an hour of being caught off the shore of Stonington, CT. They are then vacuumed packed and flash frozen to -30 degrees right on the boat. Once thawed, they remain fresh for up to 7 days.

The 400+-acre farm, with locations in Hope (Western Cranston) and Warwick, RI, has been run by the Confreda family since 1922. They take conservation very seriously, working closely with the USDA on projects such as water conservation, irrigation and soil erosion reduction. They are also a GAP certified grower who participates in food safety initiatives and community enrichment programs. One of the largest vegetable growers in Rhode Island, Confreda Greenhouses & Farms supplies over a dozen schools, wholesalers, stores and restaurants across the state. At the Hope location, Confreda Greenhouses & Farms houses a farmers market, café, ice cream shop, bakery, nursery and garden center.

Warren Cook farms on land his family has owned in the Blackstone Valley for over three hundred years! Warren took over the family operation in 1977, and today his son Nate joins him and becomes the tenth generation to farm this land in Wrentham, minutes from the Cumberland-Woonsocket line. They grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables on thirty-five acres using an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach. Look for their delicious Asian pears, beets, sweet corn, and other wonderful crops this year.

Czajkowski Farm operates on 300 acres on land in Hadley, MA, and 100 acres of which are certified organic. This third generation farm is operated by Joseph Czajkowski, who says of his work, "we love what we do!" Czajkowski aggregates products from neighboring farms in the Hadley area, providing an excellent selection of local product all year round. He also can peel and chop products, offering peeled and sliced winter squash, carrots, coleslaw and cabbage. Look for his excellent selection of onions, cabbage, purple-top turnips, and butternut squash all winter long!

In the forest behind Louis Vinagro’s house, his herd of heritage Berkshire pigs happily root around the forest floor. The pigs feed on a combination of forage available on the forest floor, as well as feed and kitchen scraps. They are routinely rotated around three-acres of forest to provide new forage and let the previous location recover. Louis is third-generation hog farmer, and opened Hill Farm as a new farming venture in 2003. They also raise a small number of chickens for eggs.

From apples, peaches, plums, to nectarines, Hill Orchard’s hundreds of tress produce some amazing fruit. Allan Hill runs this fifty-acre farm, whose lands was the combined property of his parents. The original orchard was planted in the late 1920s and the old trees stand to tell stories of hard New England winters. Today, they have many heirloom apples varieties, offering old favorites and new flavors. Hill Orchard’s fruit can be found at half a dozen farmers markets, schools, and restaurants across the state. Keep your eyes open for apple cider, butter, and vinegar from their own fruit. Hill also helps Rhode Islanders eat local apples all year round by working with Buell Orchard in CT, whose controlled atmosphere (CA) storage keeps farm fresh apples crisp and delicious into spring and summer.

The farm has been in the Hopkins family for over 100 years. They started raising sheep in 1970, and today five family members live on the farm, and three work with the sheep. Eight of their forty acres are in pasture, on which they keep 40 brood ewes and produce over 50 lambs a year. Their sheep are Southdowns and Southdown crosses. Southdowns are meat sheep, known for their tenderness and great flavor. The ewes are pastured during the summer and fed supplemental grain and hay during the winter months. No hormones are fed. The Hopkins family has been involved in the sheep industry locally and nationally for over 40 years. Farmers Don and Debra Hopkin say it has been and continues to be a great experience and lifestyle for all of them.

The Providence Granola Project began after a late night, a few beers, and a couple of good friends asking a question: what might help newly-arrived international refugees start rebuilding their lives in Providence? The answer: artisanal granola, of course. Let’s face it, granola is just about the perfect food - wholesome, natural, mysterious, deep. And when it tastes this good, why shouldn’t it help a few people along the way? Using mostly organic ingredients, our granola is locally made in the Amos House kitchen with the help of refugees from Burundi, Myanmar, and Iraq.

Rhody Fresh milk is processed at the Guida plant in Connecticut, one of the only independent dairy processing plants in the Northeast. Rhody Fresh milk is free of artificial growth hormones, supports local dairy farms, and preserves open space in our state. Feel good about your milk when you purchase Rhody Fresh!

Along Route 2 in Exeter lies a plot of land that has been farmed by the Schartner family since the 1930s. Rich Schartner currently runs the farm, which is still very much a family operation, and is passionate about growing food. Schartner grows a huge diversity of fruits, vegetables, flowers, nursery stock, and even grains (check out their rye flour, ground at Kenyon’s Grist Mill). They farm using a variety of methods, including Integrated Pest Management (IPM), chemical free, and soon will be offering some certified organic products. Look for their amazing strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and one of a kind carrots. They also offer jams and relishes made from their own produce.

Every summer Kacie Loparto packs up her elementary school classroom and heads to the coast of Maine, where she sustainably harvests, dries and packs wild seaweed. She collects four different types of seaweed – Kelp, Atlantic Kombu, Wakame, and Dulse, and offers a soup mix that combines the first three varieties. Her seaweed is great for making soups and salads and for adding flavor and texture to bean and vegetable dishes.

Shy Brothers Farm is run by the Santos brothers, two sets of fraternal twins! They are third-generation dairy farmers, milking 120 Holstein and Ayrshire cows on their farm in Westport, MA. The brothers launched the cheese company in 2006 to keep the farm in business. Their cows are never given hormones or preventative antibiotics. Cows are pastured 6-7 months a year, and receive feed grown right on the farm for the rest of the year. Shy Brothers Farm makes two cheeses, Hannahbells®, tiny hand-made cheeses, and the new artisanal curd, Cloumage™. Hannahbells won at the 2009 American Cheese Society and 2010 World Championship Cheese competitions, both unique accomplishments for a new cheesemaker! Friends Barbara Hanley and Leo Brooks help the very shy Santos brothers sell their cheeses.

In 2007, the farm was preserved as agricultural land forever with support from the town, state, and federal government, the Champlin Foundation and the Nature Conservancy. The land has been farmed since colonial times, and is now run by the Neale family, parents George and Martha and their four children. They raised Belted Galloway cows, Boer goats, Katahdin sheep, Americuna chickens, heritage pigs and more.

Skip Paul runs this well-known organic farm in Little Compton. Skip and his wife, Liz Peckham, started the farm in 1981 on land farmed by Liz’s family for over five generations. They offer a wide range of vegetables, melons, peaches, herbs, honey, and eggs, including 28 varieties of lettuce, 12 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, and 9 varieties of eggplant! Recently added greenhouses allow for tomatoes and cucumbers in the spring and early winter. They grow a number of specialty items, such as artichokes, ginger, Cape Cod cranberries, and shitake mushrooms – watch for them throughout the season!

Nearly a hundred years old, this family owned and operated company sells their sodas to stores and restaurants across the state.
