The Wintertime Farmers Market started in Providence in 2007 inside AS220 with 10-12 farms and producers. The market quickly outgrew the performance space and in 2008 jumped just across the Providence / Pawtucket line to the south hall of Hope Artiste Village, where the Wintertime Market opened its third season in 2009 with over 50 farms and producers. In 2010, the market expanded to a second day: Wednesday evenings.
Food Stamps / SNAP:
Farm Fresh offers up to a $5 Bonus to customers using their EBT cards. Thanks to Citizens Bank, The Rhode Island Foundation, June Rockwell Levy Foundation, Wholesome Wave, and your donations.
Recycling:
Available at the Main St side of the market hallway. You can now also drop off clean Egg Cartons and Berry Cartons for re-use by farmers and all of Providence's new backyard chicken keepers.
Composting:
New for the 2010-2011 season! EcoRI will be accepting residential compostables, vegetable scraps, egg shells, coffee grounds & filters, and compostable paper only. There is no charge for the service, but a $1 is suggested to support the program.

Knife Sharpening:
Poorboy Sharpening is a knife and sharps sharpening service run by Kevin Wyer. His hobby turned in to a profession 3 years ago in Maine and has been sharpening knives for people at Farmers Markets ever since. In addition to the sharpening service, he also has knives for sale that have been recycled, rescued and refurbished.
*There are no dogs allowed in the indoor Wintertime Farmers Market.

Foods at the Market*
Though every season is unique, we use our Harvest Calendar and information about what each vendor produces to provide a good guess as to what will be available at the market each week. But we don't have details on which farmers come to this market. If you do, let us know.
