CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is about creating community and connecting individuals and families to their food and farmers. In essence, Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food. By joining a CSA you share in the risks and rewards of the farming season and help to preserve active farmland in our community.

The goal for the CSA is to provide fresh produce for 20 weeks, mid-June through the end of October. We will be growing over 35 crops giving you the chance to eat a variety of vegetables and fruits, try new foods, and meet new people.

Our focus is on popular annuals including but not limited too: lettuce, spinach, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and more.

In addition to crops that we harvest for the weekly share we also grow a number of Pick-Your-Own crops. These crops include peas, beans, cherry tomatoes, hot peppers, herbs, husk cherries, and flowers. In the spring of 2009 we will plant strawberries and raspberries for picking in future seasons. You will be able to come to the farm once a week and pick a specified quantity of these crops when they are available.

Shares will be boxed and available for pickup on Saturday’s either at the farmers market in West Cornwall or at the farm. Enough food should be provided to feed two people who love vegetables or a family who enjoys salads and side dishes. I will be in touch about exact start and end dates as they are weather dependant.

A little about Stone Wall Vegetables LLC
“Stone Wall Dairy Farm” and “Stone Wall Vegetables” comprise a diversified farm located along the Housatonic River in Cornwall Bridge, CT. While the land might have been farmed since the 1700’s, the previous owners operated the farm since 1921 and in 2004 new owners started the raw milk dairy. Currently the land is owned and preserved by the state, town, and privately. We believe diversity and a holistic approach is important for the long term health of the farm. Stone Wall Dairy Farm manages 60+ acres for pasture and hay land, producing and bottling Raw Milk which it sells from the farm and at 13 area stores. Stone Wall Dairy Farm also sells eggs from our own chickens and sometimes raises pigs to help recycle nutrients throughout the farms ecosystem. In addition to the dairy “Stone Wall Vegetables” raises a variety of crops for a 50 member CSA, farmer’s market, and local natural food stores. Tractors are used for major tillage work, mowing, and other bed preparation otherwise hands and hand tools are our preferred implements. The farms are not certified organic but use many organic and ecological production practices including cover cropping, rotational grazing/growing, and manure management
