A little about Devon Point Farm
Devon Point Farm is a family-run farm in Woodstock, CT offering VEGETABLE & FLOWER CSA FARM SHARES and GRASSFED BEEF using only naturally grown and ecologically-sustainable methods.
VEGETABLE CSA SHARES: Devon Point Farm CSA Members pick up vegetable shares every week for 4-1/2 months (18 weeks) starting in mid-June. We have three pickup locations: (1) at our farm in Woodstock (2) in Stonington, CT and (3) at the Ferry dock for Fisher's Island residents. Cut Flower shares are also available for 3 months (12 weeks) starting in July. Our CSA is all about eating in-season and locally-grown produce. That means the amount and type of produce you get each week will vary by season and growing conditions. Spring weeks are usually smaller, while Summer and Fall weeks will be more bountiful. Details and enrollment form are on our website: www.devonpointfarm.com
GRASSFED BEEF: Devon Point Farm is committed to providing delicious, all natural, antibiotic-free and hormone-free grassfed beef. The cattle are raised on pasture while the grass is green using rotational grazing and sustainable farming practices. They have access to fresh clean water, trace minerals, and are fed round-baled hay during the winter months - they are never fed grain. Steers are grown and finished on grass and hay only - no grain, no antibiotics and no hormones. Beef is sold BY THE HALF or in SAMPLER BOXES.
The beef is humanely slaughtered and butchered under USDA supervision, dry-aged for ten days to two weeks, clear plastic shrink wrapped, labeled with the cut and weight, and frozen.
BOXED BEEF Pricing: Boxed beef typically features a "sampler" mix of cuts which may include roasts, steaks, burger, shanks, stew meat, short ribs, fajita steaks, etc. Boxed beef is $400 for a 35 lb. box. Boxes are reserved with a $250 deposit.
HALF BEEF Pricing: The beef Halves are at special bulk pricing of $5/pound hanging weight and are pre-sold with an $800 deposit. The final balance due will be determined after the steers have been taken to the butchers and we will call you with a balance due based upon the hanging weight. Our hanging weights for a HALF are 300-350 lbs. The yield varies depending on how fat the animal is and how it is butchered, but is typically half of the hanging weight, so 150-175 lbs of finished cuts which usually take up about 10 cu. ft. of "upright" freezer space. Halves typically cost between $1,500 and $1,750 depending on the weight of the animal and yield between 150 - 175 lbs. of finished cuts.
Note: All pricing includes transportation costs, USDA butchering, plastic wrapping, labeling and boxing.
