    Greetings All!
As the days grow longer, thoughts of verdant growth dance in the heads of gardeners everywhere. In this seasonal spirit, We are pleased to announce the beginning of enrollment in the 2010 Moonstone Gardens Harvest Shares!

This year's Harvest Share arrangement will be as follows:

    - All Moonstone Gardens Produce is USDA CERTIFIED ORGANIC.

    - Harvest distributions will take place at Bagelz, 90 Pershing Avenue in Wakefield on Tuesdays from 3-6 pm.

We are happy to introduce folks who live near each other in order to facilitate pick up coordination. Please call or write if pick up scheduling prevents you from participating. We will try to help.

-Distributions will begin as soon as we have food to harvest. This should be in April with overwintered crops such as kale and leeks. We will most likely have one harvest in April and one in May. We will have weekly distributions from the first week of June through the last week of October. We will have distributions in November with frequency depending on weather and availability. In an abundant and temperate season, we will see four more weeks of shares containing both storage crops and hardy vegetables.

    - Moonstone Gardens will offer strawberries in shares for the first time! Check out the Moonstone Gardens Blog for an idea of what our full shares were like in 2009. Note the absence of tomatoes, melons and squash due to unfavorable weather conditions.

    - We offer Full Shares for $830 and Half Shares for $430. A deposit of $430 will secure your Share. For Full Shares, payments of $200 dollars will be due on June 1 and August 1. There will be a limited number of shares sold.
    - Work trade arrangements for Harvest Shares and/or college internship credit are available. Please ask if you are interested.
    - To enroll, send a letter with your Name, any pertinent contact information, a preferred method of communication and payment. Full payments will be accepted at any time. Specify if you would like a Full Share or Half Share. You will receive confirmation when your letter is received. You may confirm availability via email, phone call or text message. Make checks payable to Moonstone Gardens and send to POB 454, Narragansett, RI 02882.

A little about Moonstone Gardens
Moonstone Gardens is two acres of mixed vegetables, annual fruits, herbs and strawberries at Earth Care Farm in Charlestown. The first Certified Organic Farm in the Rhode Island, Earth Care Farm is also home to the largest farm composting operation in the state. The farm's fields are wonderfully rich, producing beautiful crops without any fertilizer amendments other than our "Black Gold" compost. The gardens are managed as models of small scale, bio-intensive food production with an emphasis on ecologically and socially just principles. Extensive efforts are being made to develop systems geared towards lower inputs of imported or exhaustible resources. Community sustainability and self reliance are guiding principles of Moonstone Farms. Through ecologically sound farming practices and direct contact with the people who eat our vegetables, we wish to do our part in building a healthy community.
