A little about New Harmony Farm CSA
New Harmony Farm is a small family run certified organic farm located near the banks of the Merrimack river in West Newbury, Massachusetts.
Inspired by the Shakers vision of merging spirit, community, beauty and innovation, New Harmony Farm brings together artists, permaculture specialists, environmental educators, interns and our CSA shareholders in a unique environmental educational program and working organic farm. Our vision is to sustain our community with nutritious certified organic food while promoting a more intimate understanding of our interdependence with nature..Although New Harmony Farm is the only certified organic farm CSA in the Newburyport area, our farm goes “beyond organic” through our commitment to permaculture and sustainable design, and using biological/ nutrient dense growing practices. We continue to learn and work with our expert collaborators in pursuit of growing nutritious, flavor dense and chemical free vegetables grown in the most earth friendly way.
Environmental Education is at the heart of New Harmony Farm’s mission. New Harmony will be working with other environmental groups in developing a series of experiential workshops on organic and permaculture practices, food preservation and other homesteading skills. Other “happenings” at the farm include farm tours, “wild walks”, and opportunities for contemplative practices such as Chi Qong. Unless otherwise indicated, all workshops and events at the farm are free to CSA shareholders.
