CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is about creating community and connecting individuals and families to their food and farmers. In essence, Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food. By joining a CSA you share in the risks and rewards of the farming season and help to preserve active farmland in our community. The goal for the CSA is to provide fresh produce for 20 weeks, mid-June through the end of October. We will be growing over 35 crops giving you the chance to eat a variety of vegetables and fruits, try new foods, and meet new people. Our focus is on popular annuals including but not limited too: lettuce, spinach, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and more. In addition to crops that we harvest for the weekly share we also grow a number of Pick-Your-Own crops. These crops include peas, beans, cherry tomatoes, hot peppers, herbs, husk cherries, and flowers. In the spring of 2009 we will plant strawberries and raspberries for picking in future seasons. You will be able to come to the farm once a week and pick a specified quantity of these crops when they are available. Shares will be boxed and available for pickup on Saturday’s either at the farmers market in West Cornwall or at the farm. Enough food should be provided to feed two people who love vegetables or a family who enjoys salads and side dishes. I will be in touch about exact start and end dates as they are weather dependant. |

Shares of the Harvest The garden is carefully planned to yield a variety of seasonal vegetables every week for twenty weeks or more. We are planning to produce eight shares in 2009. A share is designed for a family of four, a half share for a couple or smaller family. Whole share, $600 Half share $350 Picking up your vegetables You have signed up of a pickup day, either Tuesday or Friday. We pick your vegetables in the morning, and have them ready for you by 1 PM. There will be something for you every week until the end of the growing season, which will be in late October or possibly early November. Unclaimed bags: We leave the bags of vegetables out till the end of the day; we check the coolers after we finish supper, and bring in any unclaimed bags. We either use the food ourselves or give it away. If you can't get here on your day If you need more time to pick up your vegetables, call us and leave a message, and we will add some ice and leave them out for you. When you are away If you are going to be away or can’t pick up at all, please let us know ahead of time if you can. I will divide your share among the other shareholders that week. Since most shareholders have to skip a week when they are away, it tends to even out over the course of the season. The Garden The garden is off to the right as you stand facing the coolers. I take a lot of pride and pleasure in the garden, and am happy to have you come look around. The area behind the gate is our back yard. We prefer that to remain private. Contacting us The quickest way to contact us is to call 860 567 4465 and leave a message. I usually check my email in the morning, but occasionally don’t get to it for a day. |
