Apples
Kids eating apples?
Schools and colleges have the challenge of feeding lots of people on a tight budget. But these schools demonstrate that farm-to-school programs are indeed possible and have great results. The schools have shown their commitment to local food and the kids have answered back – we love it! Students like fruits and vegetables when they are full of flavor. And nothing is tastier than that fresh apple, just picked yesterday. Or potatoes freshly harvested, then roasted. Or a farm fresh vegetable stirfry medley.

Since they're fresh, local foods aren't loaded with preservatives and fillers. These simple foods are healthier and good nutrition is good news for everyone, especially for our children. Childhood is when we develop eating habits that we will continue for our entire lives. Integrating farm fresh foods into our children's daily diet is important for their educational and physical well-being.

The Mass. Farm-to-School Project and CISA are working to increase the availability of fresh foods in our cafeterias. If you are interested in getting your school involved, contact us!
